Mission Christmas arrives at Wightlink

Collection boxes for Mission Christmas: Cash for Kids are now available at Wightlink’s ports in Portsmouth, Lymington, Yarmouth and Fishbourne and Ryde Pier, awaiting gifts for children across the South and the Isle of Wight.

Donations of toys, and items suitable for teenagers, will help the charity provide Christmas presents for youngsters who might not otherwise receive a gift.

“We are thrilled that Wightlink has again partnered with us to collect presents,” says Samantha Tanner, Cash for Kids Charity Manager for the South Coast, Surrey and Wiltshire. “Last year we helped over 21,000 children in the south and are on course to help more in 2024.”

Wightlink Head of Retail Dan Haynes says he was inspired to join the appeal to make a difference in the community: “At this time of year, all children ought to get at least one present and we at are delighted to play our part. We welcome donations at all Wightlink ports”

On the Isle of Wight, Mission Christmas is helping organisations, schools and good causes such as the Daisy Chain charity, to reach families who would appreciate a little extra help this month. Wightlink is also supporting Samantha’s team with cross-Solent travel for the donated presents.

To make sure all the boxes can be collected and the gifts wrapped and delivered before Christmas Day, donations should be given by Monday 16 December.
